Are Super Chicken Tractor Eggs Really Better?
ABSOLUTELY!
Home-Grown Eggs are Better for the Chicken
Chickens raised in a chicken tractor are healthier and happier than cage-bound chickens in egg factories.  Even USDA Organic rules only require "access" to grass.  These chickens are usually confined in a building without sunshine and fresh air until they are old enough to lay.  When they open the door to the small patch of grass outside, the chickens don't even set foot outside.....they are frightened to see the big world.  Your chickens will have access to grass every day once they are big enough to survive outside, and with that grass comes bugs to eat!
Home-Grown Eggs are Better for You
Eggs from chickens raised outdoors with access to fresh air, sunlight, bugs, and grass are much healthier than eggs produced indoors. These eggs won't contain any of the dangerous antibiotics that factory eggs contain.  The yolks will be nice and yellow.  You can eat them as soon as they are laid, so you know they have not been sitting around in a store refrigerator for weeks.  A note of caution here......if you like boiled eggs, use old eggs or the shell will be hard to get off!
Home-Grown Eggs are Better for the Environment
Eggs from the grocery store often travel hundreds or even thousands of miles to get to you.  Every mile traveled uses precious fossil fuels and adds carbon to the atmosphere.  Your eggs will use only human power to get them from the chicken tractor to your plate.  The factory farms used to raise these eggs also use a lot of energy to power fans and lights year round, which you will not need.  You may, however, want to use a light in the winter to make your birds more comfortable and keep laying throughout the year, or you can let them take a natural break.
